Megan's Father Issues Fresh Appeal - Sky News

The stepfather of the schoolgirl who ran away with her maths teacher to France has made a fresh appeal for her to come home - saying her mother is "in pieces".

Police say they have received a number of potential leads from the public over the disappearance of the 15-year-old, who was last seen boarding a ferry to France with 30-year-old Jeremy Forrest.

A European Arrest Warrant has been issued for the pair.

Police will not say if the pair were being investigated before they fled

And speaking on the BBC's Crimewatch, Martin Stammers said: "Megan, if you're seeing this, just pick up the phone, ring your mum.

"Your mum is in pieces darling, just pick up the phone, ring, just so we know you're OK."

It comes after Mr Forrest's father, Jim Forrest, fought back tears as he appealed directly to his son and the teenager.

"Please, please get in contact," he told a police news conference.

"Hi Megan, hi Jeremy, I hope this message reaches you and you are both okay. There are a lot of people back home that are desperate to hear from you.

"All I am asking is for one of you to make a call, send an email, so we know you are both safe. We are all here for you both. Please, please get in contact."

Sussex Police, the force leading the inquiry, say they have no confirmed sightings of the pair, who were caught on CCTV on the ferry to Calais.

The officer in charge, Chief Inspector Jason Tingley, said: "We are working closely with an enquiry team in Paris.

"Efforts abroad have been specifically focussed on information gathering. We are in a position to act swiftly to any information concerning their whereabouts."

Mr Stammers has posted a number of messages on his Twitter page urging people to help find Megan, while asking celebrities including Piers Morgan, Jimmy Carr and Snoop Doggy Dog to retweet his posts.
