McCarthy - We deserved more - SkySports

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy was left ruing a missed chance to take something off Manchester City following their 4-3 loss at Eastlands.

McCarthy's men, who sunk into the bottom three following their defeat, dominated the opening half and deservedly led early on through Nenad Milijas.

Kolo Toure equalised just before the break, before Carlos Tevez inspired City to victory as he scored twice with Yaya Toure also getting on the scoresheet.

Despite being 4-1 down, Wolves refused to give up and a Kevin Doyle penalty and Roland Zubar header gave them hope but they just could not find an equaliser that nobody would have begrudged them.

McCarthy, though, felt his side did not take advantage of their first-half dominance.

"Forget the disparity between resources, we should have been more up on the first half. I am sat here disappointed we have lost," said McCarthy.

"It is not about what they have got and making more of that, I have a good group of lads and a good team and we should have been in front by more and when we were on top we should have punished them.

"When they scored they had hardly scratched at our goal, we were the dominant side and the boos were starting to ring out and it was getting uncomfortable for them, so it is irrelevant what they have got as we played really, really well in the end."

No criticism

McCarthy admits that Tevez's display meant there was little his defenders could do.

"I know everyone will want me to criticise defenders, but he runs at you and has quick feet and at some stage you just have to say it was a great goal," he said.

"I think most teams would have laid down at 4-1 down, but they didn't and I think that shows what spirit the lads have got, big hearts and they don't give up.

"We started well, finished well just that bit in the middle - my cake has fallen flat again.

"I thought we started the second half well but the little player [Tevez] came up with a great goal."
