A FUN-LOVING four-year-old has been threatened with a council noise abatement order unless he plays more quietly in his garden.
Simon and Pippa Landsell were stunned when environmental health officials wrote saying they'd received a complaint about son Alfie.
Chiefs warned that if they got any more they would send in digital monitoring gear to check just how loud Alfie is as he frolics in his sandpit and with his skittles.
If a noise abatement order is served, the council says: "Failure to comply can lead on conviction to a fine, not exceeding 5,000, together with a daily fine of up to 500 for each day the nuisance continues."
Dad Simon, a 35-year-old technical engineer, of Hull, East Yorks, said: "I'm fuming. Alfie's just a normal four-year-old.
"We've tried to explain the letter, but he doesn't really understand. Surely a child is allowed to make a bit of noise in his own garden? I can't believe they took this seriously."
Mum Pippa, 31 seen with the pair said: "It's pathetic. What am I meant to do, gag him and put him in his room?"
One neighbour said: "Alfie's lovely, just a normal little boy out playing."
A city council spokesman said: "Legally we have to investigate any noise complaint."
