Kim Kardashian sex tape: Big-bucks interest from an unnamed buyer - Los Angeles Times

Someone wants Kim Kardashian's sex tape off the market.

The Kim Kardashian sex tape can be had easily for a click and a credit card number -- but now someone wants it for his or her very own.

That mystery buyer has, through a lawyer, expressed big-bucks interest in the X-rated video. Alas, it looks as if this deal, like so many things involving Team Kardashian, would be about business, not pleasure.

"The party we represent does not intend to distribute or broadcast the 'tape,' but hopes to completely remove it from the market," Nashville lawyer Adam Dread said earlier this week in a letter -- first obtained by TMZ -- sent to Vivid Entertainment's Steve Hirsch. Any outtakes and unused footage of the new Mrs. Kris Humphries in action would also be of interest to his confidential client, Dread said.

"I have no idea who is behind this offer," Hirsch told TMZ Wednesday. Vivid bought rights to the keepsake for a million bucks back in 2007, but Hirsch said that at this point $30 million would be "a starting point" for rights negotiations.

"If it's Kim, I have a tremendous amount of respect for her," he said. "She has my number and can call me any time."

About 2 million viewers paid their respects to the video over Kardashian's wedding weekend, up from the usual 300,000 or so who'd be ponying up to see the future bride and her then-beau, Ray J, the Daily Mail said. Apparently, she was an especially big hit in Ireland.

Meanwhile, costar Ray J (singer Brandy's brother) was two-thumbs-up about the porn coming off the market, though he pegged the video's value higher than a paltry $30 million, suggesting "Steve" (Hirsch, we assume) would be the one best qualified to name a price.

In a world where the Internet is forever, pulling the Kardashian sex tape off the market would be easier said than done. And even then, certain awkward moments would remain inevitable. Like that moment in first class on Sunday when, according to the New York Post, Kim's new husband found himself seated near -- wait for it -- Ray J.

Ray J reportedly presented himself and offered congrats to Humphries. Congrats on the wedding, that is.
