Despite his pleas of innocence, they say 16-year-old Joshua Davies is an "evil" and calculating killer and death is the only fitting punishment in his case.
Sonia Oatley, her son Jack and daughter Jessica were speaking to Sky's Midlands correspondent Lisa Dowd as Davies was sentenced.
The judge at Swansea Crown Court jailed him for an indeterminate period, saying he would have to serve at least 14 years.
Rebecca's family said they hated Davies
Davies had joked with his friends about killing Rebecca, 15, before murdering her in woodland near Bridgend in South Wales.

Rebecca's family say Davies never once showed remorse during his trial
