Wenger was also furious that Arsenal were denied a first-half penalty when Gervinho was tripped by Philippe Senderos. He believes that it was the fourth time his team had been wrongly denied a penalty in five games.
"I think it was 100 per cent a penalty," said Wenger. "We had a penalty in the last game [against QPR], a clear handball. We had a penalty at Man City, we had a penalty at Villa Park. We are guilty because we still gave two goals away in a stupid way and we didn't take our chances. It's a massive missed opportunity."
Martin Jol, the Fulham manager, rejected Wenger's accusation. "Maybe he could accuse me of trying to do something, but I don't think players can do that," he said. "The only thing I did was put Frei on the flank and he is an exciting player. He went one-v-one all the time and that was probably the problem for Djourou. He probably could have had a second booking before that.
"It was so easy for them [in the first 25 minutes] they probably had complacency and that was only our advantage." Zamora also said that he expects to remain at Fulham during this January transfer window. "I think so - I have a few years on my contract," he said.
