A MAN was arrested last night after two children were seriously injured in a hit and run.
It came after cops released CCTV footage of a silver or grey Vauxhall Astra fleeing the scene.
The driver briefly stopped after hitting Rayhan Saleem, two, and his sister Sabah, ten but then sped away.
The image shows the car turning a corner 100 yards on.
Last night, West Yorkshire Police said: "At around 9.30pm this evening police arrested a 36-year-old Leeds man in connection with the incident.
"He was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop at the scene of an accident and failing to report an accident. Police have also recovered a vehicle."
The kids were crossing the road at a speed bump outside their home in Hyde Park, Leeds, on Saturday after buying onions for their mum, who was making a meal to celebrate the Eid Muslim festival.
Both suffered massive head injuries and Sabah yesterday remained "critical" after surgery.
Rayhan was "much improved" and has been moved out of the intensive care unit at Leeds General Infirmary. Their aunt, Saima Rafique, said Sabah's condition was very serious. She said: "We want her home. I really want my princess home."
Police also released an image of a woman in Asian dress who passed the scene with a child, and urged her to contact them.
