Unhappy returns: Rylan Clark's family not happy at being frozen out at party to ... - Mirror.co.uk

His odd antics have earned him a cult following on X Factor.

But wannabe Rylan Clark's family are not so impressed with the singer after being frozen out at his 24th birthday party.

His relatives were overheard angrily complaining that Rylan spent most of the night at London's Mahiki club filming behind a security barrier.

A family member raged: "What's the point of coming if we aren't even going to get to speak to him?"

An onlooker said: "A lot of people made the trek from Essex for what was meant to be his birthday party but he spent most of the night behind both a cordon and security.

"No one could get close."

Rylan had invited all his closest friends and family down – including TOWIE's Harry Derbidge and previous contestants 2 Shoes.

And it was a suitably raucous evening with his mentor Nicole Scherzinger jumping out of a cake wearing a red leather basque and fishnets singing happy birthday in a Marilyn Monroe-style.

At one point Nicole, 34, beamed as she sat on openly-gay Rylan's lap and they were in hysterics.

One partygoer said: "Rylan joked he was suddenly confused about his sexuality after seeing her emerge from a cake.

"In fact it seemed to have got him so worked up that he was taking full advantage of the free drink swigging rum straight from the bottle.

"Union J, who were dressed as zombies, were also knocking back beers like there was no tomorrow."

Poor Jade Ellis and Ella Henderson, however, missed the party because they were too young.

A show insider said: "Ella is only 16 so we couldn't allow her to go out clubbing.

"She got to go on a ghost tour with the other contestants."

The District 3 boys, meanwhile, were dressed as devils and clearly up for mischief.

A source said: "Mickey gave his number to a girl he met there and they have been texting ever since.

"They didn't get home until 4am and had to be up at 8am for group rehearsal."

Nicole was joined in the skimpy costume department by fellow judge Tulisa Contostavlos – who looked like a vampire Dutch maid as she wore a black and red fastened top with a black skirt.

With fake blood pouring down her neck, Tulisa, 24, was even seen pretending to bite Nicole with her fangs.

Looking forward to the evening ahead, the singer tweeted: 'On my way2@RylanClark's birthday party+celebrating the release of sight of you video fancy dress!'

Rylan wore an American Football outfit with the shirt ripped while his close pal Lucy Spraggan dressed up as a pumpkin.

Kye Sones and James Arthur, meanwhile, opted for what looked like black bin bags.

Church-goer Jahmene Douglas, however, refused to dress up, saying bizarrely: "My costume is on the inside."

He then kept trying to leave but show bosses made him stick around to finish filming.

A source added: "He's not much of a party animal like the others."
