James Arthur Praises 'Deserved' Christmas No 1 - MTV UK

X Factor winner tweets support of The Justice Collective's Xmas top spot...

The X Factor winner James Arthur has praised the Justice Collective's Hillsborough charity song, insisting the track "deserved" its Christmas No 1 spot.

He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother, sung by stars including Robbie Williams, Sir Paul McCartney and Paloma Faith, battled James' own single Impossible for the top spot throughout last week.

And James has been open about his support for the Hillsborough tribute.

On Friday, he tweeted about his own debut release, writing: "Platinum single baby! Not a bad start :) thanks to all who bought it now make sure the Hillsborough tune is number 1!!! #LOVE."

His reaction to yesterday's chart announcement was just as generous. Arthur wrote: "He ain't heavy he's my brother the deserved Xmas number 1. Beautiful song and a very worthy cause. Bless all affected by the disaster #LOVE."

On Sunday night, James was celebrating an amazing few weeks with his fellow X Factor finalist.

He tweeted: "I'm in Swindon chillin with my homeboy @jahmenedouglas in preparation for my gig at bushwackers!! #LOVE."

But it's clearly been an exhausting time, because the Middlesbrough singer later added: "Swindon you were sick! I'm literally sick! so I'm off home for Christmas to see the Fam and get well and I'll be back on it next week! #LOVE."

Earlier this month, James became the fastest-selling X Factor winner ever with his debut single.
