Perhaps it wasn't the sumptuous birthday meal she was expecting.

A pouty-looking Taylor Swift posed with her new beau, One Direction's Harry Styles, on or around Dec. 13 — the day she turned 23. The venue? A highly unglamorous Chinese takeout restaurant in Cheshire County, England. Swift, shrouded in layers of plaid, her hands primly clasped, her trademark carmine lipstick nowhere to be seen, wears a resigned look. Her impish 18-year-old boyfriend, on the other hand, sports a knit cap and a wry grin.

The couple are posing with the restaurant's owner, reports the Daily Mail. According to the paper, Styles' pal posted the pic to Twitter on Friday, along with the caption: "Just casually finding Taylor Swift in the chinese."

The date was a down-home departure from the ye olde British-looking snaps of the pair strolling hand-in-hand in woolly coats and lace-up oxfords the other day.
