Manchester United defender Rafael will be left out of the squad for the FA Cup fourth round tie against Southampton this weekend as a precaution, Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed.
The Brazilian international was stretchered off in the second half with concussion during United's 3-2 victory over Blackpool on Tuesday after a clash of heads with Marlon Harewood.
He was taken straight to hospital for X-rays after the game and was given the all clear from doctors before returning to Manchester.
However, United are said to want the correct break from physical contact for Rafael and that means that he will not travel with the rest of the United squad to St Mary's on Saturday.
"It's a straightforward one. He has concussion and will miss Saturday's game," Ferguson said after the game.
