NICK GRIMSHAW grabbed the mic from Chris Moyles like a teenage girl clawing T-shirts off One Direction.
In his first day in the Radio 1 Breakfast Show hot seat, Grimmy played his trump card.
He dragged Harry Styles from under his duvet to appear at 8am, in a bid to guarantee a huge opening audience.
Grimmy took over from Moyles following pressure to attract younger listeners.
So the news that he'll be waking up a different member of 1D every day this week will please his bosses.
Nick joked: "The plan was to play One Direction's latest single.
"Then it was leaked and we were like, 'Oh... but let's talk to them anyway! They really need the push, so they can start doing really well'. I originally demanded to talk to them at 7.20am but their management said it was too early."
And Harry wasn't his only name-drop. Grimmy also played a pre-recorded interview with Justin Bieber in which he called the youngster "bratty". Later on Doctor Who actor Matt Smith was on the blower to play Wheel Of Four-Tunes.
Texts from David Beckham, James Corden and Mika were read out. Moyles sent him a cake.
And Grimmy revealed that Team GB gymnast Louis Smith would be joining him today, actress Emma Watson on Thursday and singer Alicia Keys on Friday.
He kicked off his debut brekkie show with a heavily censored version of Jay-Z and Kanye West's N***** In Paris, then quipped: "That was the radio edit, of course. That could've been an amazing way to fail."
Sara Cox had the lorry drivers on board and Moyles had the blue collar heroes, too. But Grimmy is after a different crowd.
And good luck to him.
If he plays more guitar music, he's got my backing.
