Alan Johnson returns home hoping to save marriage - Mirror.co.uk

ALAN Johnson returned home yesterday determined to try to save his marriage after wife Laura demanded a divorce.

Mrs Johnson, 47, told the Labour MP she wanted out after confessing her affair with police bodyguard Paul Rice.

Mr Johnson, 60, had been in his Hull constituency since the news broke, while she stayed with their son, aged 10, in Streatham, South London.

There was no sign of Mrs Johnson when he arrived at the house. Friends said he hopes to talk her round after allegations that Mr Rice, 45, also had a fling with constituency secretary Tracy Windle, 50.

One close friend said: "It was obviously a shock but he is on good form and just wants some time to try and sort it all out."

Mr Johnson resigned as shadow chancellor last week, while the detective constable is under investigation and faces the sack over the claims.

Tracy said: "I've been put through the mangle. It's just too personal. I'm very sorry."
