LABOUR chief Ed Miliband's nose surgery was pronounced a success by surgeons yesterday.

One senior party figure had said he hoped the leader would end up with a less nasal tone after the Mirror told of the £1,300 operation.

The official said he wanted Mr Miliband, 41, to end up "sounding like singer Barry White".

But aides insist it was to deal with a serious condition of sleep apnoea – which interrupts breathing – rather than to improve his voice.

A source said: "I spoke to him and his voice sounds exactly the same."

The leader's spokesman said: "He is now recovering for a few days."
