TORY MP Louise Mensch admitted yesterday she "probably" took drugs with punk violinist Nigel Kennedy while working at a record company.
Chick-lit author Mrs Mensch, 40, made the announcement after being accused of enjoying a wild night of drugs and drunken dancing at a club in the 1990s.
She says she cannot remember the bash but added that it was "highly probable" the claims were true and she apologised to anyone who saw her "bad dancing".
Mrs Mensch, who is on the Commons committee that quizzed Rupert Murdoch on phone hacking, said: "I was in my 20s. I'm sure it was not the only incident of the kind. We all do idiotic things when young."
The mum-of-three made her admission after receiving an email from a reporter asking about her time at EMI records. It said journalists saw her antics at Ronnie Scott's in Birmingham and photos existed.
The Tory said: "Although I do not remember the specific incident, this sounds highly probable. I thoroughly enjoyed working with Nigel Kennedy, whom I remember with affection.
"I am not a very good dancer and must apologise to any and all journalists who were forced to watch me dance that night."
The email also alleged she was sacked for writing a "novel of a sexual nature on your work computer during work hours".
Mrs Mensch, who writes books under her maiden name, Louise Bagshawe, said she penned a few chapters of her 1995 debut novel, bonk-buster Career Girls, on her EMI computer but never in work hours.
She added: "It was not why I was fired by EMI. 'Leaving work early' and 'missing the odd day' along with 'inappropriate dress' were the reasons quoted to me."
Nigel said: "I am a socialist but recall some great times with my beautiful, very clever right-wing friend when she was at EMI."
