Internet Explorer 6 users criticized in study - London Free Press

Is Internet Explorer for dummies? A new study seems to suggest that.

Titled Intelligence Quotient and Browser Usage, the study by Vancouver-based AptiQuant says IE 6 users have a lower IQ than users of other web browsers.

AptiQuant compiled IQ test scores of 101,326 individuals older than 16 and divided them into groups according to the browser they use.

Users of Internet Explorer 6 have an average IQ score barely more than 80; Firefox and Chrome users fare much better, with average IQ scores of around 110, while Opera and Camino users have an average IQ score more than 120.

Since releasing the results of the study last week, AptiQuant says it has been threatened with a lawsuit by a group of Internet Explorer users.

And Leonard Howard, the CEO of the company, said he's been receiving hate mail from IE users.

"I just want to make it clear that the report released by my company did not suggest that if you use IE that means you have a low IQ, but what it really says is that if you have a low IQ then there are high chances that you use Internet Explorer," Howard said.
