Will Ferrell appeared on "Conan" as movie character Ron Burgundy Wednesday to announce plans for a sequel to his 2004 hit comedy "Anchorman."
"I actually have an announcement," Ferrell said. "I want to announce this to everyone here in the Americas, to our friends in Spain, Turkey and the U.K., including England, that as of 0900 Mountain Time, Paramount pictures and myself, Ronald Joseph Aaron Burgundy, have come to terms on a sequel to 'Anchorman.' It is official. There will be a sequel to 'Anchorman.' "
Ferrell began the five minute sketch by compiimenting show host Conan O'Brien and sidekick Andy Richter for being "outstanding broadcasters."
After a roar from the audience in approval, Ferrell left the late-night talkshow stage.
"Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy" tallied more than $89 million in ticket sales worldwide.
