Man remanded over city park death - The Press Association

A man has appeared in court charged with murder after a man was found injured in a city park.

Ebrahim Aryaei Nekoo, from Edinburgh, was discovered in Saughton Park in the west end of the capital at around 7.20am on Saturday.

Mr Nekoo, 41, died as a result of his injuries.

Stephen Nolan was charged with murder when he appeared on petition at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.

The 47 year old, from Edinburgh, made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody. The case has been continued for further examination.

In an earlier statement, Mr Nekoo's wife said: "Ebrahim was a warm and devoted husband who I adored and who was well liked within our close group of friends.

"Everyone who knew and cared for him is completely shocked and devastated by his death and we are all still trying to come to terms with this tragedy.

"His friends and family would like to thank the wider community for their messages of support during what has been a very difficult time for us all."
