Issy drug cupboard was open - The Sun

THE drugs that killed Issy Reilly were found in an unlocked cupboard in the bedroom of lecturer Brian Dodgeon, an inquest heard yesterday.

Issy, 15, was at a party held by Mr Dodgeon's daughter Beatrice, who decided to search the room "for something they could enjoy".

Issy collapsed and died after she, Beatrice, 14, and two 14-year-old boys took the drugs, including ecstasy.

The other teenagers were taken to hospital.

Yesterday's inquest came as Mr Dodgeon, 60, remained in a "serious but stable" condition in hospital after leaping from a 30ft road bridge in an apparent suicide bid.

Sgt Neil Philpott told Westminster Coroner's Court that about seven teenagers were still at the unsupervised party in North Kensington, West London, in the early hours of April 23.

He added: "A group, including Isobel, took it upon themselves to search the parents' room.

"They found in a high cupboard a box containing what we believe to be controlled drugs. The cupboard was not locked.

"Four of the youngsters took some of the contents and Isobel reacted particularly badly."

Mr Dodgeon, a research fellow at the University of London, was arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs and child abandonment.

He and his partner had gone out for the night.

The inquest was adjourned until Issy's final post-mortem results are revealed.
