BENGHAZI, Libya, July 31 (Xinhua) -- Three rebels were killed and five others wounded in bloody clashes with a pro-Gaddafi group in Benghazi overnight, a spokesman of the interior ministry of Libya's rebel movement said in a press conference.
The spokesman said a number of gunmen were killed and 25 others were detained, adding all of them were loyal to Gaddafi's forces.
He said the security raid, which was based on a tip-off, aimed to crack down the elements royal to Libyan Leader Muammar Gaddafi.
The clashes erupted three days after the killing of rebel military chief Abdel Fattah Younis by gunmen after he was summoned from the front by the rebel National Transitional Council.
