Wenger joy as Gunners' fire returns - Yahoo! Eurosport UK

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was delighted to see his forward unit put in the devastating display in his side's 5-3 win at London rivals Chelsea.

Frank Lampard gave Chelsea the lead, but Robin van Persie struck the first of his hat-trick to equalise before John Terry gave the Blues a 2-1 half-time lead.

Andre Santos and Theo Walcutt put the Gunners 3-2 ahead early in the second half and although Juan Mata equalised in style with a fine 25-yard shot, van Persie steruck his second and third in the final five minutes.

Wenger said: "Chelsea have been very secure defensively in the games they have played until now so maybe it is the quality of our play that opened them up. We kept throwing everything forward.

"It was a good team performance and we showed great spirit because when you are 2-1 down just before half time it can be difficult.

"We showed great desire to go forward. "We always looked dangerous for the whole game."
