A man has been arrested after a house in Merseyside was "extensively damaged" by fire.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service were called to a house in Tarbock Road, Huyton, at about 06:55 GMT.
There were no reports of injuries, but neighbouring homes were evacuated as a precaution. Residents were allowed back home later.
Police said a man had been arrested but his age and address was unknown. Drivers were advised to avoid the area.
James Houghton lives in a property backing onto the house.
"We heard an explosion this morning," he said.
"At first we thought it was someone trying to break into our house. Then we realised there was a fire in the house that backs on to ours.
"When we went round to look at the house, the front bay window had been completely blown out."
