Doctor Who star David Tennant will be getting married to the daughter of former Timelord Peter Davison today, the Daily Mail can reveal.

The dashing actor, who is credited with helping to revive the BBC sci-fi series, will tie the knot with pretty Georgia Moffett in an intimate New Year's Eve ceremony in London.

The couple already have a baby daughter called Olive, who was born in March, and have been making plans to marry ever since Mr Tennant proposed last Christmas.

Last night, a friend said: 'David and Georgia can't wait to get married, they are madly in love.

'They have tried to keep everything quiet and the wedding is for family and closest friends only.'

Even by a Time Lord's standards, their romance is a fairly head-spinning concept.

Mr Tennant, 40, who played the tenth Doctor who, met his fiance when she had a guest role in a 2008 episode – playing the Doctor's daughter, Jenny.

Miss Moffett's father, in turn, had played the fifth Time Lord.

The blonde actress, 27, whose mother is actress Sandra Dickinson, already has a nine-year-old son called Tyler whom she gave birth to in 2002, when she was just 17.

She brought him up alone and has never publicly revealed who the father is.

She then set up home with her Where The Heart Is co-star Adam Harvey in 2004. The couple split up two years later but they remained friends and Harvey continued to be a presence in her son's life.

Mr Davison, 60, has said of his daughter's relationship with Mr Tennant: 'It's great because David is a genuinely nice guy.

'I'm delighted Georgia has found happiness because she hasn't always had an easy life.'

Speaking about his future son-in-law, Mr Davison told the Mail in July that Mr Tennant was 'besotted' with his baby daughter.

He said: 'I suspect that, crucially, Georgia wasn't overawed by David. He's a really nice guy, but a lot of people are intimidated by actors who've played The Doctor. I've been asked to pose for photos with fans who've been shaking beside me, just because I played The Doctor.

'I suspect that goes on too with David, who, like me, is intimidating without doing anything to intimidate. Georgia was able to get over that, partly because she's strong and courageous, and partly because she grew up around an actor who played The Doctor. She was never fazed by meeting TV actors when she was a child – it's second nature to her.'

He said the couple would opt for a conventional and un-showbiz wedding, saying: 'I very much doubt they'll have a Doctor Who themed wedding, for example. I don't think that's their "thing."'

Mr Davison, who also has two sons by his second wife Elizabeth Morton, was the Doctor that Tennant loved watching when he was growing up.

And it appears the admiration is mutual. Davison told the Daily Mail that Tennant was 'a very fine Doctor Who'.

Prior to dating Mr Tennant, Miss Moffett revealed in an interview: 'David is dishy, isn't he? He's not only a good-looking but he is such a lovely, sweet guy.'

Mr Tennant and his fiancee may already have a minister on stand-by to oversee their nuptials.

The actor's father is the Rev Sandy Mcdonald, a former Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland. His beloved mother Helen died from cancer in 2007.

Miss Moffett is not the first actress whom Mr Tennant, whose role was taken over by Matt Smith, has dated.

In October 2007, He parted ways with actress Sophia Myles after a two-year relationship, following her move to Hollywood.

They, too, met on set - when Myles played Madame de Pompadour in a 2006 Doctor Who episode.

I'm really glad for them and wish them a long and happy marriage.

Noooooooooo! I love The Doctor! (Well, this Doctor, obviously not the new one!) Seriously, though, I wish them well. Mostly.

Aww Congratulations to them both. He seems a good guy and bet he is a great laugh to be around. Loved him in Casanova!

So romantic ... I'm kind of jealous of her because David is so great, but I'm happy for them too, they seem good together
