Quite a week in British politics - Herald Scotland

This one began with a burst of sabre-rattling between Westminster and Holyrood and ended with what may turn out to be a temporary truce. Battle has been joined for the future of Scotland and there is no going back. And while David Cameron has many other morsels on his political plate, for Alex Salmond the independence referendum will be the main meal for the foreseeable future. The First Minister has embarked on the biggest gamble of his career.
