Cassidy plans Davy Jones Tribute - London Free Press

Former teen idol David Cassidy is planning to turn the upcoming show he was set to co-headline with pal Davy Jones into a tribute to The Monkees star, who died on Wednesday.

Paying tribute to Jones, who suffered a heart attack and died at his ranch in Florida, Cassidy claims "the world seems a little less light" - and now he's planning a tribute show in Miami that was supposed to be a shared concert with his friend.

He says, "I have a concert coming up that Davy and I were supposed to do in Miami next month. I'm going to do it, and do a tribute to Davy Jones... I'll miss him."

Cassidy first met the pop star and actor when his career was on the rise and he turned up on his doorstep in Hollywood to introduce himself in the early 1970s.

The former Partridge Family star tells Entertainment Tonight, "I loved the guy. He became my friend later and I admired his talent, respected him a lot for enduring the kind of backlash to having that kind of fame. He was a deeply caring guy."

Cassidy tells the news show he had heard that Jones had apparently "been having problems breathing" in the days leading up to his death.
