A Scottish football fan cleared of assaulting Celtic manager Neil Lennon has been jailed for eight months for breach of the peace during a match earlier this year.
Hearts supporter John Wilson was also handed a five-year ban from football after he charged toward Lennon and shouted and swore at him during the televised game at Tynecastle in Edinburgh on May 11.
A sheriff (judge) told Wilson on Wednesday that his actions that night, amid an already "highly volatile" and "poisonous" atmosphere between the two sets of supporters, had "serious potential consequences."
Wilson, a 26-year-old unemployed laborer, was also accused of a sectarian attack on Lennon, but was acquitted after jurors found the charge was not proven.
