Lucky Brit claims £148m EuroMillions jackpot - The Sun

A BRITISH ticketholder has come forward to claim a massive £148million win on the EuroMillions — the second biggest jackpot ever.

The life-changing prize was set at 190million euros — the biggest pot since £161million was won by a Scottish couple last year.

Lotto bosses confirmed today the lucky winner had now claimed the whopping win.

The winning ticket matched all five numbers 50, 21, 17, 48, 11 plus the two Lucky Stars 9 and 10 in Friday's draw.

Camelot said the winner was now so rich, they could afford to buy enough gold to cast 33,000 Olympic medals.

The win has also put them just above Sir Tom Jones in the Sunday Times Rich List. The singer has a fortune of £140 million.

But they are £13million short of the EuroMillions' biggest winners — Colin and Chris Weir, from Largs in North Ayrshire, who won their life-changing jackpot last July.

A National Lottery spokesperson said: "Lady Luck is clearly shining down on the UK once again with another big EuroMillions win this year – the seventh jackpot to be won so far in 2012.

"We have plenty of champagne on ice and look forward to welcoming the lucky ticket-holder into the millionaires' club."

Other British winners include Dave and Angela Dawes, who won £101m last October.

In February Cassey Carrington and Matt Topham, both 22, of Stapleford, Notts, scooped £45.1m and three weeks earlier husband and wife Gareth and Catherine Bull scooped £40m.

Two anonymous winners scooped £113m and £84m in 2010.

But another British ticketholder — who scooped £63.8 million in a EuroMillions draw in June — has yet to come forward.

The ticket was bought in the Stevenage and Hitchin area of Hertfordshire and the holder has until December 5 to collect the winnings.
