The spy who luvvied it: Walliams becomes James Bond for birthday bash - Scottish Daily Record

IT was probably more a case of "oooh, oooh seven" than 007 as David Walliams celebrated his 41st birthday.

The world's most camp secret agent hosted a James Bond-themed bash on Tuesday night.

Wearing a bespoke tux, the Britain's Got Talent judge fronted a special screening of his favourite 007 movie, The Spy Who Loved Me, at London's British Film Institute.

David then whisked his celeb pals off to a private dinner at the Gordon Ramsay restaurant in The Savoy.

In keeping with the theme, they were served martinis – shaken, not stirred, of course – followed by a traditional British three-course meal.

Guests included comedians Jimmy Carr, Miranda Hart, Rob Brydon, Alan Carr and Sally
Phillips, Jonathan Ross and his wife Jane Goldman, and some homeless man … or was that Russell Brand?

David's very own Bond girl, supermodel wife Lara Stone, was in attendance, too.

And, naturally, no party would be complete without the couple's Border terrier Bert, wearing a bow tie.

A source told us: "David held a drinks celebration for his friends in the BFI atrium, shortly before going on stage and introducing the film.

"He also played the audience a special clip featuring himself and Roger Moore, which was the talk of the evening.

"Production designer Sir Ken Adam was another surprise guest and let slip that Stanley Kubrick had secretly visited the set to give lighting advice.

"After the screening, David and Lara had arranged for cars to transport their guests to the hotel. They were then whisked into the sectioned-off bar and treated to cocktails and champagne.

"David is a massive James Bond fan, and the whole evening was tailored around the franchise.

"The guests dined on caviar, steak and Eton mess – three of James Bond's favourites – and a great time was had by all."

So good, in fact, that David and Lara didn't make it home.

Instead, the couple stayed in a £400-a-night suite at the five-star hotel.
