Elton John and his partner David Furnish have adopted a baby born on Christmas Day: Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John.
In a joint statement to US Weekly Magazine, the new parents said that "Zachary is healthy and doing well" and that they were "overwhelmed with happiness and joy."
The baby boy, born to a surrogate mother, is a first for the British rock star and filmmaker David Furnish.
Zachary was born in California on Christmas day at 3.6 kilos. The name of the surrogate was not released.
In 1971, John released the hit song "Levon", with lyrics written by the singer's longtime collaborator Bernie Taupin.
