Some New York politicians are calling for a ban on tourist and what they call "non-essential" helicopter flights in New York after a crash in the East River.
Congressman Jerrold Nadler and five state and city legislators say they want to cut down on air traffic.
A spokesman for Nadler said pilots should have to prove that they are coming to New York for a business or government purpose before landing. The lawmakers had not decided how to enforce such a ban or how to define a business trip.
Commercial air tour companies are already limited to a heliport near Wall Street and only fly specific routes. But the helicopter that crashed Tuesday was on a private, non-commercial flight.
One passenger died, but no one on the ground was hurt.
