London grandmother stabbed to death by complete stranger on way to work - Herald Sun

A 59-YEAR-OLD grandmother was stabbed to death in London today by a complete stranger who had earlier stolen a knife from a butcher's shop.

Sally Hodkin was walking to work in Bexleyheath, southeast London, when she was stabbed in the neck by a 31-year-old woman, who then walked into a nearby shop and calmly asked the manager to call the police, The Times reported.

"I think I've hurt someone, I think I have killed someone," she said, according to Ryan Higgins, the manager at UK TileCentres.

"She asked me to call the police. She told the police she was supposed to have been mentally sectioned the day before and kept saying she wanted her medication. She was quite calm."

Police arrested her at the shop.

It later emerged that the woman had earlier attacked another stranger, a 23-year-old woman, at a bus stop after taking a knife from a supermarket, Sky News reported.

Mrs Hodkin, who was found with stab wounds to her neck, died at the scene. The other victim - who wrestled the supermarket knife off her attacker - had minor wounds to her hands and did not require hospital treatment.

Police said there was no information to suggest that the victims were known to each other or the suspect.
