Southwold harbour car death man named - BBC News

An 89-year-old man who died when his car careered into the water at a Suffolk harbour has been named by police.

Philip Charles Evans of Wangford, near Beccles, was in a vehicle which drove through railings at speed near Southwold lifeboat station on Friday.

Police divers and a crane recovered the vehicle several hours later and Mr Evans's body was found inside.

No-one else is believed to have been in the car.

A Suffolk police spokeswoman said there did not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.
