Clocks could go forward extra hour to boost tourism - Mirror.co.uk

SUMMER evenings could remain light for an hour longer under plans to boost tourism and the arts to be unveiled this week.

Ministers are looking at moving the clocks forward all year round.

Their proposals are aimed at supporting outdoor events, particularly in the late summer.

But it could be scuppered by opposition from Scotland, where it would remain dark until late in the morning.

Putting the clocks forward an extra hour has been proposed in the past – but ministers have always insisted it needs comprehensive support.

A source said they would only be happy to go ahead if the British public gave it their full backing.
