Kristen Stewart's Movie Awards Style: How Did It Compare To Our Pick? - MTV.com

As you may recall, Hollywood Crush became a celebrity stylist last week when we picked out four fabulous outfits for four talented ladies: Kristen Stewart, Emma Watson, Reese Witherspoon and Emma Stone. All four starlets were in attendance at last night's Movie Awards, so we simply have to recap not only what they wore, but how their outfit choices compare to our expert selections.

1. Kristen Stewart in Balmain vs. Kristen Stewart in Lanvin
KStew tapped her rocker chick side and showed up on the carpet in a red leather Balmain mini adorned with metal studs and pins. As we mentioned in our Style the Star feature, Kristen likes to let her dresses do the talking and keep the rest of her outfit simple; she paired this showstopper dress with simple black heels, a few rings and loose strands. Although we do love the red and gold Lanvin ensemble we chose for Kristen, her ensemble was way cooler than anything we could have concocted. It is, admittedly, still within her mini dress comfort zone, but as we've come to expect from Bella's better half, it's definitely cutting-edge style.

2. Emma Watson in Marchesa vs. Emma Watson in Carven
In our Style the Star feature for Emma, we noted that she's been favoring pastels, ruffles and modern romanticism for her recent red carpet appearances, but that embellishments like lace and feathers were her M.O. on the "Harry Potter" promotional rounds last summer. At the Movie Awards last night, Emma blended these two style sensibilities with finesse in a white Marchesa mini with bedazzled neckline and epaulets. Topped off expertly with silver platform pumps, Emma's ensemble is much more dressed up than the casual Carven frock and wooden wedges we styled for her. We would have liked to see her in something more youthful and playful for a fun-loving event like the Movie Awards, but there's no denying that she looked like a million bucks.

3. Reese Witherspoon in Zac Posen vs. Reese Witherspoon in Bird by Juicy Couture
Reese showed up last night to accept her Generation Award from "Water for Elephants" costar Rob Pattinson. Unfortunately for Reese, we wish she'd gone for our purple and silver Bird by Juicy Couture outfit instead of this black and gray leopard look. Though her ensemble does fit with her firmly established fashion sense (form-fitting knee-length dress, black color palette, earrings and bracelet without a necklace, peep-toe pumps ), the overall effect is just not our elegant Reese. It's not that it's not a nice dress; it just wasn't our favorite. Of course, Reese could wear a paper bag and we'd still love her.

4. Emma Stone in Bottega Veneta vs. Emma Stone in Giambattista Valli
Here's the thing about Emma: We had the perfect Style the Star ensemble picked out for this blond babe, only last-minute, she decided to switch back to her fake hair color—red—and dash our stylistic dreams. We still managed to select a sexy-chic draped Giambattista Valli dress to set off her new 'do. What we didn't bank on, however, was a return to her pre-blond sartorial sensibilities. This Bottega Veneta lace-overlay dress is sweet and stunning. It looks awesome on Emma, and she's accessorized it beautifully with a Bottega Veneta clutch and satin pumps. However, it appears that Em believes in the old adage "blonds have more fun," because she had a lot more fun with fashion as a platinum-topped gal. The results weren't always A+, but they were always a step ahead of the pack. We won't berate her too hard for playing it safe last night, because she did look gorgeous, but we still think our nude ensemble would have been a better show-stopper in which to accept her Best Comedic Performance award.
