Berlusconi 'not worried' by sex trial - Herald Sun

ITALIAN prime minister Silvio Berlusconi said he is "not at all worried" about his upcoming trial for sex crimes and abuse of power.

"For the love of God, I will not talk about this. All I can say is that I'm not at all worried," Berlusconi said at a news conference in the Italian capital, chiefly devoted to economic issues.

The 74-year-old will stand trial in April on charges he paid for sex with a 17-year-old girl and abuse of power, in a lurid scandal that has come to dominate his premiership.

It is alleged that Berlusconi paid for sex with nightclub dancer Karima El Mahroug, nicknamed "Ruby the Heart-Stealer."

Prosecutors also allege he improperly used his power as prime minister to request that police in Milan release the Moroccan dancer after she was picked up by police for suspected theft.
