BlackBerry has unveiled a new social and interactive music service, BBM Music, enabling punters to build a community-based music library they can share with friends through their BBM. And what a way they unveiled it in the UK - with a star-studded celeb bash featuring a barnstorming performance from Jessie J.
Allowing users to choose 50 of their favourite tracks, all musical tastes are catered on BBM Music with tunes from Universal, Sony Music, Warner and EMI available.
But it is the opportunity to share tracks with BBM friends who are also subscribers, opening up a new world of listening possibilities that makes BBM Music really stand out.
Naturally, the more contacts a user adds to their BBM Music network, the bigger the music library becomes. BBM Music users can swap out up to 25 tracks every month meaning playlists are always ripe for a freshening.
And as well as being able to monitor how many friends have listened to tracks shared, users can comment on other people's playlists, bringing that social aspect right into play. Most impressively, music can be cached to BlackBerry smartphones for offline listening.
BBM already has over 45 million users worldwide how will other social networking platform react to this musical element?
