The TOWIE girls are under constant pressure to look good all the time. Now, grumpy folk might argue that their definition of 'looking good' isn't everybody's, but whether you embrace fake tan as a life choice doesn't matter right now. What does matter is what we can learn from Essex's finest about dressing to impress.
Take last night for example. Lucy Mecklenburgh, Jessica Wright and Gemma Collins all went for very different looks.
Let's examine them.
First up: Gemma Collins
Gemma left Joey Essex's 22nd birthday party at London's Funky Buddha nightclub last night looking like she'd either had a chemical peel or just found out that the recurring nightmare she has when her skirt falls off in school assembly did actually happen.
Her red face is all the more noticeable because she started the night with a completely normal complexion. Either she's really, really, really embarrassed about something or she mistook her blusher for powered foundation. Which we can sympathise with. (The night we mistook concealer for lipstick is still our friend's favourite memory ever.)
Second: Jessica Wright
If you own a lingerie shop you're entitled to wear tiny bondage-style corset dresses to parties (but only if you own a lingerie shop). Which is exactly what Jessica Wright did last night. Before arriving at Joey's do she hosted an underwear party at London's Aura nightclub where she gave pieces from her With Love Jess store away to fans.
She teamed her dress with massive heels, massive boobs and a Vivienne Westwood handbag.
Third: Lucy Mecklenburgh
In the world of TOWIE it's perfectly acceptable to wear an evening dress when just popping out to the Londis on the corner. Lucy epitomised this careless disregard for posh frock etiquette yesterday while shooting a scene.
The 20-year-old wore a Victoria Beckham-imitation dress by McBerry.co.uk, teamed with monstrous black wedges to film with Lydia Bright at the latter's shop, Bella Sorella.
Lucy didn't attend Joey's birthday shindig last night, perhaps because she and Joey's girlfriend Sam, (who looked very loved-up with the brithday boy last night ) aren't speaking after an argument at Lucy's engagement party.
Sam told Lucy that she's heard rumours that Lucy's fiance, Mario Falcone. has been sex-texting other girls, whereupon Mario retaliated by accusing both Sam and Joey of cheating on each other.
In summary
DO: wear lingerie as evening wear if you own a lingerie shop.
DON'T: mistake blusher for foundation.
DO: wear imitation Victoria Beckham dresses during the day to Londis if you have a figure like Lucy's.
