Emma Watson denies 'Harry Potter' bullying claims - NME.com

Actress says she wasn't bullied at Brown University

Emma Watson has moved to clear up media reports about her supposedly being bullied at Brown University over her role in the Harry Potter films. Some media sources had suggested that the Brit actress had been teased about her character Hermione by students at the US university, where she has been studying literature since 2009. However, she posted a message on Emmawatson.com denying the claims.

"I felt the need to let you all know the reason I took a semester off from Brown had nothing to do with bullying as the media have been suggesting recently," she explained. "I have never been bullied in my life and certainly never at Brown."

It had been suggested that students had jibed "ten points to Gryffindor" – which would have been a reference to a location in the films, when she got a question right in class.

"This '10 points to Gryffindor' incident never even happened," she added. "I feel the need to say this because accusing Brown students of something as serious as bullying and this causing me to leave seems beyond unfair."
