Have you been wondering where Gerard Butler has been the last few weeks? Yeah, neither have we, but according to reports, the actor has been spending the past few weeks at the Betty Ford clinic.
No, the notorious ladies' man isn't in treatment for sex addiction. TMZ claims Butler is seeking help for substance abuse issues.
According to the site, Butler became addicted to painkillers, stemming from the physical demands of shooting 300 in 2006.
The problem reportedly escalated after Butler suffered an injury in December while on the set of Of Men and Mavericks. Butler was thrown off of his surfboard by waves at least 12 feet high before being stuck underwater for two consecutive waves. When he finally surfaced, the actor was hit by four or five more waves.
Butler recently told the Daily Mail, "It was a pretty close call. The waves just took me in, and I couldn't get up. It was pretty hairy. It was maybe of the few times that reports were not exaggerated."
TMZ reports that the actor realized that he had a problem and headed off to the treatment center three weeks ago.
Butler is reportedly being released later today.
