The public gallery broke into a spontaneous round of applause today as magistrates jailed a teenager for 12 weeks for posting "abhorrent" comments about the missing schoolgirl April Jones on his Facebook page.
Matthew Woods, 19, from Chorley, Lancashire, admitted making grossly offensive comments about the five year old girl after getting the idea from Sickipedia, a website that trades in sick jokes.
Woods, unemployed, also wrote comments of sexually explicit nature which so outraged members of the public that they reported the page to the police.
