Russian supergrass Alexander Perepilichny found dead - The Times (subscription)

A Russian businessman who was helping Swiss prosecutors uncover a money-laundering scheme used by corrupt officials has died outside his Surrey home, police confirmed yesterday.

Alexander Perepilichny, 44, collapsed outside his £12,500-a-month home in Weybridge, Surrey, two weeks ago and was declared dead at the scene. A post-mortem examination was "inconclusive", Surrey Police said.

"Further tests are being carried out but the investigation has been handed over to the coroner," a spokeswoman told The Independent.

Mr Perepilichnyy was an important witness against a group of corrupt Russian officials and underworld figures implicated in a tax fraud against the British company
