Apple Announcing New iPad During GDC... Again - Forbes

Last year it seemed like a coincidence. In the middle of the annual Game Developer's Conference in San Francisco, in fact, right in the middle of the keynote address by Nintendo's Satoru Iwata, Apple decided to hog the media attention right across the street by holding one of its trademark giant reveals of moderate improvement over existing technology.

Even if it was a coincidence, conference attendees thought it seemed a little bit arrogant, and a little bit ominous considering Apple's aims to continue to grow its presence in the gaming industry. Now, a report from All Things D suggest that Apple will, once again, be holding a press conference during GDC, presumably at San Francisco's Yerba Buena Center for the Performing Arts, presumably to announce the iPad 3. They'll also be announcing iOS 5.1 toward the tail end of the conference. If it's a coincidence again this year, that suggests that Apple is blind enough to people in related industries that it genuinely doesn't care about flaunting hardware right across the street from one of the biggest gaming industry events of the year. If it's not a coincidence, they're just jerks.

Apple hasn't confirmed the event yet, so there's still time to move it to right in the middle of the keynote.
