(AGI) London - 'Silene Stenophylla' is the name of a plant brought back to life from the Sibierian permafrost. This plant had become extinct for more than 30.000 years. The experiment was carried out by the Russian academy of Science. Silene is a grass plant that was very widespread in the Pleistocene epoch.
Its seeds were found 38 metres underneath the icy ground of North-eastern Siberia and were kept inside a fossilized squirrel den. Russian researchers managed to bring the plant back to life by regenerating its seeds. . .
