Spat ... Girls Aloud star Cheryl Cole and, right, MC Harvey - The Sun

The grime star said he became close to Girls Aloud singer Cheryl after her split with hubby Ashley Cole.

But she denied his claims and tweeted: "Was this 'relationship' in your head? Are you smoking something?" I think I met you once, maybe twice, at public events, with your wife."

Harvey's marriage to Britain's Got Talent judge Alesha Dixon, a pal of Cheryl, broke down in 2006 after he cheated with singer Javine Hylton, 30.

The 32-year-old rapper, real name Michael Harvey Jnr, hit back at Cheryl insisting emails could prove his claim.

He said: "Do you actually want me to tweet some of the messages you emailed me? Pipe down and stop playing the saint in front of your fans. If the public seen these emails, you'd end up with egg on your face."

Cheryl's Girls Aloud band-mate Nicola Roberts weighed in, tweeting: "Emails?? I think someone's been having you on mate."

Cheryl, 28, re-tweeted her comment and quipped: "Spat my tea out. Lmfao (Laughing my f****** a** off)."

The row started after Harvey told Now magazine that he dated Cheryl in late 2010.

He revealed he would have liked to get serious with the Geordie beauty and said: "She's a good girl. There was a relationship. I wouldn't have minded Cheryl being my wife."
