More than 40 new apps are coming to Xbox Live between now and spring 2013, according to Larry Hryb, who works on Microsoft's Xbox team and is known to Xbox Live users as Major Nelson.
Some of the apps are rolling out starting today, including a new SkyDrive app. (SkyDrive is Microsoft's personal cloud storage service.) The Xbox Live SkyDrive app allows users to share their SkyDrive content on their TVs via an Xbox console with paid Xbox Live Gold membership. That makes possible, for instance, the taking of a photograph or video on a Windows Phone, which then stores the content on SkyDrive, allowing for the viewing of that photo or video almost instantly on the TV.
Other apps coming to Xbox Live include MTV, PBS and Vimeo.
