Samsung, Apple Told to Wrap Up Argument - The Chosun Ilbo

A U.S. court handling a patent lawsuit between Samsung Electronics and Apple has once again urged them to settle.

Before a hearing on Wednesday, Judge Lucy Koh of the Northern District Court of California advised the CEOs of the two companies to seek settlement, warning that they risk a jury verdict. "I see risks here for both sides," she said.

In May and July, Samsung CEO Choi Gee-sung and Apple chief Tim Cook tried but failed to find a compromise in accordance with the court order. It therefore seems unlikely that they will do any better now.

The trial started on July 30 and the court asked both sides to finish oral proceedings by next Tuesday, and then the jury will start deliberating.

The verdict is expected late this month.
