Britain's Got Talent takes ratings lead over The Voice - Telegraph.co.uk

The Voice's viewing figures dropped for the second week in a row on Saturday night, down to 9.33 million from its 12 million peak.

The show's rating have dropped gradually since the end of the "blind auditions" stage, as predicted by Telegraph TV critic Michael Hogan.

The current "live battle round" phase of the show is "more like a formulaic singing contest", he said, suggesting that with "few memorable characters" some viewers would begin to lose interest.

In a Telegraph poll of more than 1,000 people, however, 73% of voters said they thought The Voice would be just as popular after the live round phase.

Britain's Got Talent changed to a later time slot earlier this month to avoid competing with its BBC One rival The Voice, which may also be a factor.
