A soldier who died at the Castlemartin military firing ranges in Pembrokeshire, Wales on Wednesday has been named as Ranger Michael Maguire.
Ranger Maguire died during a live firing exercise at the military training area in Wales.
An MoD spokeswoman said: "Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time."
The incident is being investigated by Dyfed Powys Police with the assistance of the Health and Safety Executive.
Police said the soldier's family and the coroner have been informed.
